The recent collective energy has been heavy, turbulent, and unpredictable. Many of us are being asked to carefully craft our own realities, removing everything that isn’t aligned with our greatest good.
This leads me to talk about sovereignty. This is a word I have seen used a lot in the spiritual community, but what does it actually mean, and how can we use it to cope + create stability in the coming months?
I was first introduced to the term over 10 years ago when I was learning from the Haudenosaunee people in Central New York. They would always ask if we could be food sovereign, meaning living off the land. Could you? Probably not. Now, as I continue to reclaim my own personal power, it has become obvious that sovereignty must exist in our lives in many shapes and forms.
Health & Wellness
So many leaders in the health + wellness industry are helping others through the modalities they have used to heal their own bodies. Yet, what might work for them may not work for you. And that’s okay. Sovereignty reminds us that we have a unique experience in our bodies and we must honor that. We must listen to what our bodies are telling us and trust that we have the power to take the necessary action to realign.
Content & Messaging
The content and messaging we are consuming on social media and TV can sometimes do more harm than good. Are you caught up in the fear cycle on the news? In the comparison culture on Instagram? Sovereignty reminds us that it’s okay to have our own experiences + beliefs that exist outside of “mainstream.” Isn’t that why we are all here? 😉 Have you taken the time to take a step back and figure out what you truly believe without any outside influence?
Not to go all doomsday prep on you, but if there were food shortages or no access to Amazon/the Internet would you have everything you would need to sustain your family? Do you know the local businesses and farms in your area who can help support you? It never helps to start considering these avenues and relying more on your local community.
Mind and Soul
Even when we don’t have control over our external circumstances, we always have control over our thoughts, reactions, and our perspectives. Sovereignty in our own minds reminds us to TRUST our inner guidance system a.k.a. our intuition. Trust that those gut feelings you have are right and honor them above all else. When we can create this type of unwavering strength within, it will help us adapt to flow with the tide.
